What this is
ExtractThumb does one thing well: you paste a YouTube link, and it gives you that video's thumbnail in every resolution YouTube stores, ready to download. No account, no upload, no waiting. The extraction happens right in your browser using YouTube's own public image URLs.
Why it exists
Thumbnails are the most important 1280 × 720 pixels on the internet for a video creator — and YouTube gives you no simple way to download them. Designers need reference images. Creators want to study what's working in their niche. Teams need to check that a delivered thumbnail is actually full resolution. We built a clean utility to make all of that a five-second job.
More than a button
A tool that does one thing can still teach you a lot about that thing. How it's built
ExtractThumb is intentionally lightweight: plain HTML, a little vanilla JavaScript, no heavy frameworks, no trackers slowing the page down. That's why it loads instantly and works on any device. The whole site is static, which keeps it fast and reliable. Nothing you paste is sent to a server of ours — the tool simply constructs the public image address YouTube already publishes and hands it back to your browser.
Our approach to content
Every guide on this site is written to answer a real question a creator actually asks — not to chase keywords. We update the dimension specs, file-size limits, and platform steps when YouTube changes them, because outdated advice is worse than none.
